Attorney Michael A. Campbell Wins "Not Guilty" Verdict in Murder Trial
After 7 days of trial, a jury found Attorney Michael A. Campbell’s client “Not Guilty” of Murder and the lesser included offense of Voluntary Manslaughter.
Attorney Campbell’s client was charged with Murder after his brother passed away from blunt force trauma. At trial, Attorney Campbell successfully argued to the jury that his client never had the intent to kill his brother, he was acting in self-defense, and that it was simply a physical altercation that got out of hand.
Had he been convicted of Murder, Attorney Campbell’s client would have faced a mandatory sentence of 45 years to Life in Prison. Had he been convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter, Attorney Campbell’s client would have faced a mandatory sentence of 10 to 30 years in Prison.
When asked about the reading of the jury’s verdicts, Attorney Campbell had the following to say:
“It was a powerful moment. When the Judge read the Not Guilty Verdicts my client couldn’t have given me a bigger hug. I’ll always remember what he said to me; ‘You just saved my life.’ Knowing that someone has put that kind of trust and confidence in my abilities is an honor beyond words.”
